Cleveland University-Kansas City

Neosho County Community College-Ottawa Campus
There are currently only two Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) schools in Kansas that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). The first is Brown Mackie College-Salina and the second is Neosho County Community College-Ottawa Campus. Graduates of an occupational therapy assistant program must pass a national certification examination administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) in order to practice. After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). In order to be eligible to sit for the NBCOT certification examination, graduates must have completed an ACOTE accredited occupational therapy assistant program. Currently, KU Medical Center’s Occupational Therapy Assistant program is in Candidacy Status and actively working towards ACOTE accreditation. The earliest they could receive Full Accreditation Status is 2023. Therefore, at this time, the only ACOTE accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program in Kansas is at Neosho County Community College-Ottawa Campus. NCCC-OC was granted Candidacy Status by ACOTE in May 2019 and is eligible to apply for Full accreditation in May 2022. We are currently the only OTA
