Occupational therapy assistants (OTA) work under the supervision of occupational therapists to help people of all ages participate in the things they want and need to do on a daily basis. The Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at College of Western Idaho is still in candidacy status with theAccreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). Candidacy is an indication that the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program meets ACOTE standards. Graduates of the Occupational Therapy Assistant program will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapy assistant administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). College of Western Idaho’s OTA program will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform as a competent, entry-level occupational therapy assistant.

Idaho State University

Occupational therapy assistant (OTA) schools in Idaho are pretty few and far between. However, if you’re set on becoming an OTA in the Gem State, you’ve got a few options. Idaho State University offers an associate degree in Occupational Therapy, though it’s important to note that the program is still in accreditation status. That means it hasn’t yet been officially accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). But, if you’re willing to take a chance on the program, it could pay off down the line. Plus, ISU is located in Pocatello which was recently named one of the best college towns in America by Livability.com. So, if you’re looking for an OTA program with a uniquesetting, Idaho State University might be worth considering.
