Mercy College

Mercy College Occupational Therapy Assistant program is one of only four Occupational Therapy Assistant Schools in New York that is still in the process of obtaining accreditation. The other three Occupational Therapy Assistant programs are at Hofstra University, SUNY Upstate Medical University, and Stony Brook University. Mercy College’s Occupational Therapy Assistant program has been granted Candidacy Status by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). While a program is in Candidacy Status, it is not able to offer the Occupational Therapy Assistant degree. However, Mercy College’s Occupational Therapy Assistant program is able to offer a Certificate of Achievement. The Certificate of Achievement can be obtained by completing all required coursework and passing the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam.
